The Pavement and Street Art Festival was held in the largest indoor space in Milton Keynes, Middleton Hall, from 12 - 16 July. This event combined technical brilliance and live performance art and was enormously popular with the shoppers and visitors to Central Milton Keynes. The focus of the event was the 'anamorphic' technique, or 3 Dimensional drawings and paintings that create vast optical illusions.
The festival showcased the first of Mexican artist Juandres Vera's four commissions for FRINGEMK. The festival also featured our other bursary-winning artists who 'performed' their work during the week, much to the amazement and enjoyment of the public:
- Melanie Stimmel Van Latum (USA)
- Peter Westerink and Leon Keer of the pan-European 'Planet Streetpainting' team
- Graffitti artist Meechy
- Lulu Allison
- Alex Rubes
- Jonny Boatfield
- Jason Smith
- Lauren Clemmet
The festival was the basis of the world's first 3D and Anamorphic Street Painting Competition which was judged by our commissioned artist, Juandres Vera. The competition was won by Milton Keynes based artist 'Meechy' with his anamorphic, chromadepth image.
